I usually start my day with coffee and pastry but today I decided to change things up and try something new and healthy. I’m (still) trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle but keeping a healthy lifestyle is not easy especially for a foodie/food blogger like me.
Instead of drinking coffee this morning, I made this healthy,fruity smoothie; Strawberry Apple Grapefruit Ginger Smoothie…. Say what??? Adding ginger into your smoothie? That sounds like a weird combo, doesn’t it? but it’s actually not bad! It’s an “antioxidant-packed” smoothie (a great detoxifying/cleansing diet). I found this recipe from the book Clean Slate, “A cookbook and guide to reset your healthy,detox your body and feel your best”. You should get a copy of it, they have really good recipes and nutrition guide.
I made a few changes to the recipe to adapt my taste. It’s super easy to make!
- 2 cups sliced strawberries
- About 1 to 2 cups of Grapefuit juice
- 1 Apple, sliced (peeled and cored)
- 1/2 inch piece fresh ginger (peeled and chopped)
Combine all the ingredients in s blender and blend it for about 1-2 minutes.
Pour into a clean glass. Garnish with strawberry (optional) to make it look appealing. Serve and enjoy!
