San Francisco North Beach Food Trip

Ahh…. North Beach, one of my favorite places to visit in San Francisco. They call it the “Little Italy” where the population and the restaurants here are Italian (think pizza, pasta, pastries, coffee and more… yum!) As a foodie and a lover of pastries and pasta, this is like heaven!

My friend and I decided to go on a mini food trip around North Beach and here are the places we visited:

Liguria Bakery

First stop, we went to this bakery called Liguria. It is owned by an Italian family. It is located near Washington Square in heart of little Italy. It’s a tiny bakery (about 10 people fills up the room). They sell different kinds of breads. They make delicious focaccia, it’s what they are famous for. They have  Garlic,Pizza,Jalapeno and Cheese Focaccias. They make it fresh everyday. If you plan to check this place out, I advice you to come here early because they always get sold out.

The Italian Homemade Co.

They make delicious homemade pasta and sauces. I heard they have the best Gnocchi Roll. I wasn’t able to try it because they ran out fast but I tried this delicious Pesto Tortellini. They make it as you order so it’s always hot and fresh.

A lovely little truffle shop in North Beach. They have make delicious hand crafted truffles everyday so you know it’s fresh. Simple yet fantastic, you might want to go back for more (or to take some home). They also have lots of flavors to try. If you buy a cup of coffee there, you’ll get a free truffle. 😉

Mara’s Italian Pastries

One of North Beach’s famous shops to go to. They’re known to have the best Cannolis around. It’s a small shop but they have tons of pastries filling the window and the counter. They also sell gelato, coffee and other sweeties.
